Camping Hammocks Can Make a Vacation More Affordable

Many times over the years I have heard people complain about how much money they spent on vacation. Actually, sometimes I think they were bragging. No matter, the cost normally comes from one of four areas: transportation, housing, activities and food. Actually I guess that covers just about everything you can spend money on during a vacation.

Having been one who vacationed a lot it always amused me when I heard travelers talking about all the fun things called activities that they participated in that day. I actually felt sorry for them. The reason is that there isn’t any way you can really have fun when your entire day is spent running from one expensive tourist trap to another. Isn’t part of the fun of vacation sitting back and letting the world go by?

I don’t have a quarrel with someone going on an activity that they really enjoy. After all that is also part of vacation. The quarrel I have is when people feel they have to do those things in order to have a good time.

We are now in a different economy than it was back in the 90s. Many people are finding that their job isn’t as secure, overtime is gone and raises are reduced. We all need to find ways to do more with less. There is one possible benefit to our reduced economy. People will figure out that family is still one of the most import things we have. Finding ways to improve family life will pay off for many years.

However, for your mental health some sort of a vacation is needed. Camping hammocks can have a big place in it. Camping hammocks have a value even if you vacation at home. Many times in Hawaii I have observed someone who spent the night in a camping hammock instead of spending it in a hotel or resort. Now that isn’t for everyone, but I had a friend who went to Hawaii with the intention of spending their vacation on the beach. Makes vacationing in Hawaii reasonable in cost.

Camping hammocks have a place on many vacations. Even if you want to spend your nights in a hotel or resort go to a park near the water and spend at least one day letting the waves relax you. A bug nest will keep those insects away if you are in areas where they are prevalent. Make sure your camping hammock is tied securely so it won’t come down on you.

There are many different types of camping hammocks to choose from. A few things to consider:

1. Will you be taking it on an airplane? With limitations on luggage one that rolls into a small ball reduces luggage cost.

2. Would it be fun to share it with a loved one while you are in it? There are double camping hammocks that permit you to have a nice snuggle. Remember children and grandchildren want to share what you are doing. They remember that far longer than most tourist traps you take them to.

3. Are weather or bugs potential issues? – Bug nests and hammock umbrellas increase the amount of time the camping hammock can be used.
