Camping Equipment List for Motorcycle Camping

For outdoor enthusiasts, creating a camping equipment list for motorcycle camping can be the start of a great and fun adventure. Bikers already enjoy the exhilaration of fresh air and the wind in their face when taking road trips. Adding a camping component to the mix only heightens the enjoyment and adventure. There is a significant difference between going on a road trip and camping however. On a road trip, bikers will typically spend the nights in a hotel thus requiring few items to bring along with them. If you’re going to camp out on your trip, then there are additional planning and preparation that must be taken into consideration to ensure your comfort and safety.

Destination

You must do your research on your intended destination. Some camp grounds are not particularly friendly to motorcyclists. If your destination requires a reservation, make yours a few weeks in advance. Find out about the rules and regulations of the campground as well as what amenities are available. You should plan to arrive during daylight hours so that you can have plenty of time to setup your tent before it gets dark.

Equipment

The camping equipment that you will need largely depends upon the type of adventure you are planning. Motorcycle camping equipment should be small and lightweight. Packing lightweight equipment and securing it properly can help ensure that you have a journey free of accident caused by items falling off of your bike. Here is a list of a few of the essential items that you will want pack.

Lightweight tent
Plastic covering (to keep the floor inside the tent dry in case of rain)
Small travel kit with toiletries
First aid kit
Sleeping bag
Flashlight
Water bottle
Air mattress with small portable air pump (optional for your comfort)

If the activities you are planning require more equipment or if you are planning a lengthy stay, you may consider renting a motorcycle trailer. Depending on the type of bike you have, it can be easily hitched and pulled along.
When traveling with a large group, more items can be brought along and given to different members in the group to carry so that no one person is overly loaded.

We all know that weather conditions can quickly change. While most bikers already have rain gear, it is advisable for your comfort, to bring along at least one change of clothes in case of heavy rain. You don’t want to dampen the mood (pun intended) having to wear wet clothing.

Food

Due to space considerations when going camping on a motorcycle, you should consider buying your food and beverages. If you don’t want to purchase meals on a regular basis, you can bring food items such as HeaterMeals. HeaterMeals are nutritious self-heating meals that have a long shelf life and do not require refrigeration. Of course if you are using a motorcycle trailer, then you will have more flexibility of what foods you can bring along with cooking utensils.

Have a Blast

Whatever your destination and planned activities may be, motorcycle camping can be a great adventure for you and your group. All you need is the proper camping equipment and your imagination to create an unforgettable outdoor experience with nature.
