Double Sleeping Bags – Advantages and Disadvantages

When you are out enjoying an outdoor adventure with your loved ones, it’s still nice to be able to enjoy some of the creature comforts of home while you take in the great outdoors. After a long day of hiking or other physical activities you want to get a comfortable night’s rest.

If you are camping with your spouse or partner that you are used to sleeping with in the same bed at home, it would be nice to be able to sleep next to them at the campsite as well. Double sleeping bags allow you to do this. They are usually twice as wide as a regular sleeping bag and meant for two people to sleep in. There are several advantages and disadvantages to this form of sleeping bag.

The biggest advantage to a double sleeping bag is that you can sleep next to your loved one just as you would at home. This can be a nice way to enjoy the outdoors together without having to sacrifice that comforting familiarity.

Double sleeping bags also offer more room, for either a couple or one larger person to move around in.

Another advantage is that double sleeping bags means one less bag to buy, carry out around, care for and store. It can be a more economical choice than having to buy two sleeping bags.

One disadvantage is that a double sleeping bag may take up more room and you might need to have a larger tent for it to fit in.

Another potential drawback is the one sleeping bag needs to be compatible with two different people’s comfort level in terms of warmth and other individual preferences. It may not always be easy to find one bag that is compatible for both people.
